Title: fence/hedge
Post by: tomatoada on July 05, 2008, 14:14:40
Can anyone advise me.  At the bottom of my small garden is a wooden fence.  On the other side is a privet hedge.  This hedge grows above the fence and bulges out over my fence.  The neibour refuses to cut my side of the hedge.  My neibours either side of me have the same problem.  As I am elderly I have to pay a gardening firm to cut the hedge once a year at least.   Any ideas!

your neighbours wont help you cut it
My neighbour is in her 80s and i do anything she asks me to, within reason BUT if she asked me to trim her hedge id oblige  ;D

Are there any volunteers in your area who could lend a hand?

I think that Age Concern have a sort of 'handyman' type service that is either free or a very nominal charge.  Also, in my area there is a voluntary group that do basic garden maintenance for disabled and elderly folks and they only ask for a cup of tea!  Try phoning your council or looking at thier website.
