There was a time not so long ago ......I would come back from a shopping trip...kick my shoes off ......open up my bags and look at the new shoes/clothes I had bought that day. Today when I got home from Wilkos and poundland kicked off my shoes and grinned at my half price seeds, peat pots, and bargain seeds trays!

Hi Dep P, please can you tell me where is this ironmongery shop that you visited in France. I go to France when I get the chance. I would love to visit this shop.
Somewhere near Burgundy.......I have no idea! We wandered about all over the place and just picked up stuff in small villages as we went...sorry! Some of the big hypermarkets have good gardening sections too and are well worth a look.
I'm off to Poitiers for a few days in October... I suspect all my purchases will be garden/allotment-related in some way. Empty suitcase out - full suitcase back, as I intend to shop till I drop...
Any recommendations? I've heard there's a huge market (swoon!)
;D
Are gardening products good value in France ?
Duke:)
I went to France early June and came back with a variety of 20 lettuce plugs and a bunch of ready to transplant beetroot - unbeatable prices (think I paid about 3 euro). I think some gardening products are good value. I bought a tool (don't know name) for hoiking the soil over the potatoes. Like a flat spade.

Nets of bean seeds are, half kilo about 5 euros leek plants this time of year good value, was tempted by a great watering can then realized when full I wouldnt be able to lift it.
Thanks Dep P for your kind response, much appreciated.
