Title: Good old fashioned barn raising - volunteers required!!!
Post by: MindBodyandSoil on July 03, 2008, 13:32:48
Hi all, as you may have noticed on our other thread, our project has been awarded a grant of £10,000 from B&Q. My problem is that all the work has to be completed by mid September - otherwise, they will take all the stuff back!!!  :'(

I was wondering if anybody would be willing to come and volunteer for a day on our lovely project, helping us dig, raise the shed and greenhouse, build raised beds - you name it, there will be plenty to do!!!

In return I can offer a pick up in our mini bus, from either Norwich or Cambridge, travel expenses (once I clear it with my boss) and a lovely bbq with lots of free food and drink suitable for veggies and meat-eaters alike!!!

If you would like to come and help us for a day, please let me know. The dates I have free are Saturday 2 August / Sunday 3 August / Saturday 9 August / Satuday 16 August / Satuday 23 Sept.

If interested, please let me know which date would suit you.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP!

That's excellent patrick. Will hope to see you soon.    Please don't be put off because of my project working with people with mental health problems. I know there is a lot of misconceptions about the people i work with but remember that my group are approaching the point when they are ready to go back into the work place

I will vouch for what MBand S said, I have worked with adults and children with mental health problems.....they are great. All you need is a good sense of humour!

I wish I could spare the time to help out, I work weekends Im afraid. Then through the week when I can afford to, I go to the farm, where we need no end of volunteers too.

I wish you the very best of luck getting it all done for september, and congratulations again on receiving that splendid grant.

If you let me have an advert type message (pm me) i will post it in the village forum.

I am hoping to see you several times in the next six weeks, with a small break
for my Holiday. I`m planning to arrange lifts with a friend who will be working in Kings Lynn.
I have to be able to meet some comittments at home and keep on top of my own plots.

Sorry I didn`t remember to tell you whats going on in my head. I will need to pm you and exchange emails.

Sadly I live in Hull and it is a bit far to go, but I love a barn raising, being Mennonite ,John and I have been to several before we left North America and  they are really great.

If you do live in the area, it is a super way to spend some time,,you will feel really good.

Good luck on the day, I really envy you.
