only a router problem if you have specifically asked your router to block the IP's of those sites, log onto the router and see what its blocking .. doubt this is your problem

could be a browser problem (firefox mainly), or a dodgy connection

Does it happen when there is likely to be a lot of people using the broadband i.e. Friday evenings, Saturday mornings or does it happen late at night or early mornings as well. If it is in the former it could be due to congestion. Congestion causes problems when you have 500 lines or ports available and 750 people want access to them, 250 have to wait until a line becomes free.

It's like the telephone, you hear what you think is the "engaged" tone. You try later, get through and tell the other end they were engaged. They say "No, we haven't used the phone for hours". What you actually heard was "Equipment engaged", there is a subtle difference. Roughly, engaged tone is "Da--da--da--da" whilst the equipment engaged is "da--dit--da--dit" (morse operators will know what I mean).

Thank you for your replies............

Shaunster, I haven't asked my router to block anything, and wouldn't know how to do it anyhow...........erm, how do I log into my router to see if it is blocking anything? :-[

Larkshall, it happens at all times, day and night, so don't think thats the problem.

sunner, we have security on our router, so its not being pinched!

Driving my daughter and I MAD!!

I don't know if it helps, but when I put the LAN line into the router, I can access all the sites I couldn't before.........take it out and nada!
