My OH has posted me some photos of the kids enjoying the strawberries at the plot in my abscence...... At least they are harvesting well. The photo also shows my late spuds on the right are flowering, yet the earlies on the left behind the strawberry bed are not.
Which do I tell her to pull first.........
I found that the earlies just didn't flower at all. Maybe that is part of what they do?
The lates are in flower now, but in the past I have let them die right back before harvesting, I won't be digging them up for a while yet.
Have a delve about under the plants and see which has the biggest potatoes! Am growing Kestrel and Anya here, both put in at same time, Kestrel is flowering, Anya isn't, and the Anya are far more advanced than the Kestrel:

My first earlies did not flower this year, my second earlies did.
My yield was okay but nowt to write home about.
the arron pilot i put in, naughty spuds, well i dug round found a small but decent looking spud so lifted the plant and found no more, tried a yellow dying back plant and found a few marbles, left the rest, weeded round them and will manure them up when i next go down see if theyre more willing then, sodding things, i never manage to grow a decent sized crop of spuds! (previously tried in pots and yeild is never more than the size of the original seed spud) im sure theyve flowered too :s hopefully another few weeks, please spuddys please!
I was surprised to find how dry the soil was around my spuds yeaterday- thought we'd had a lot of rain but maybe the wind has dried the soil out quickly. Have never waterd spuds in the past but wondering if I should have now.
