Hi Guys,
Pulled a load of shallots on friday and left them to dry, they had started to go to seed which is why i pulled them. BUT they have continued to go to seed in the heat.
I guess i need to do something with them quickly, i plan on pulling one of 2 i have seen which have split and repot. Which leaves me with about 30 or 40 small shallots any ideas what i can do with them?
Louise
i pickle mine. they have a subtle sweet pickle flavour
gosh, what do you use pickeled shallots with?
Do you pickle them like onions?

But DON'T rush to eat. Store them for so many recipes.
Pickled? Much the same as Onions, but so much nicer
yes put if they have started to go to seed they will not store will they?
ou can make a savoury shallot tartin (like apple lees sugar for the caramel but otherwise the same ) great with a green salad for lunch
Sorry, Cambourne, thought you still had some over to store.
nope they went over so quickly i did not get a chance.
If you are going to pickle put some honey in the vinegar, brilliant.
Nearly dug some shallots up yesterday- wish I had now, reading that recipe, Tim- sounds delish!
