Title: The composting loo...... at last
Post by: ceres on June 25, 2008, 22:04:19
Some folks (manics, grawrc?) asked for pics some time ago but I forgot in all the hooha with the weedkiller.  So here they are.  Most of the materials are recycled and all the work was done by a few plotholders.

Here you can see the back wall with the ramp down to the two underground chambers.

Side wall with water collection.  I believe the intention is to raise this higher to allow the butt to feed the washbasin inside.

[attachment=3]

Other side showing the pipe that vents 'fumes' from the chambers.  There is no smell inside.

[attachment=4]

The front view.

And inside........

The chamber on the left - the one on the right is exactly the same.

The 'fittings'.

And our lovely willow fedge.

brilliant pics, ceres,
how difficult was it to get planning permission from the council, we've had to shelve it for now, no way to get the equipment on site to do it all.
excellent job  ;D

We're self-managed on Crown Estate under a Royal Warrant so no planning requirement.  Do you mean you can't get vehicles onto your site?

Blooming heck!  That must make life very difficult.  Will you be able to get a new roadway put in?  We don't have tarmac or anything like that, just grass paths wide enough and flat enough for cars.

if we want a path, WE have to pay for a bulldozer to shift the 8' high pile of soil and debris they have put in the way, unfortunately, under it is knotweed, also, the cars/vans will have to skirt the whole side and length of 2 rugby fields  :(
just something we have to live with :)
