Title: Yellow pustules on cabbages
Post by: delboy on June 21, 2008, 22:53:11
Winningstadt cabbages otherwise looking healthy and starting to heart up, but yellow blotches/pustules on many of the outer leaves.

Any ideas?

Don't know, but funny you should ask - I was just about to post this.

Two other problems -

1. The rainbow disclouration - which can be much more marked - is a deficiency of what? Found it once but lost it.

2. The other leaf - any ideas?

Plus we now have Whitefly on all the new plants!!

Tim. The one on the right looks like Leaf Spot ( Ring Spot ) and the one on the left looks like Downy Mildew.

So - no spraying, so live with it!

I would have a close up look delboy to see if they are eggs on the other side or the beginnings of flea beetle holes

manganese, magnesium and boron are the 3 main deficiencies  if outer and old leaves are the only ones I would just nip them off

Deficiencies - do you think it would be worthwhile giving them an Epsom spray, Calendula?

I find myself using seaweed for almost anything that looks like it is missing something - it has all the trace elements and they are slow release - blood fish and bone would be another choice but it has a quick release and less trace elements I believe - the epsom salts will only provide the magnesium  :)
