Title: Do Potato "Anya" usually flower?
Post by: chappy on June 21, 2008, 12:26:24
I have read that some potatoes don't flower before being ready to harvest.

Do Anya flower?

They've still probably got a few weeks to a Month before being ready, but just wondered if they would show they ar ready by flowering.

Will have a feel in the containers in a couple of weeks to see if I can feel any spuds.

Chappy.

Hi chappy,
Mine havn`t flowered, but I have had a "firtle" around & pulled up a few that are about a medium egg size & very tasty they are ;D They were planted in the first week of April if that is any help.

They will flower, but not as conspicuously as some others. We plant our at Easter and take them up before the end of July... to make room for other things.  ;D

My Anya's flowered several weeks back in the bed and a bit earlier in a container.  Both planted 9th March.

Thanks guys.  I shall keep my eye on them.

I do want to harvest them ASAP to get some Christmas spuds in.

Saw some Maris peer seed potatoes in a local independent nursery the other day, so will get some to chit ready to go in, end of July hopfully.
