Title: MULCH what is it?
Post by: PurpleHeather on June 20, 2008, 21:44:52
Years ago when I got my little bit of land to do with as I wanted. Whenever I asked a question, the older and wiser kept telling me that I needed to was to mulch.

When I asked 'what is mulch?' I got no useful response. Sniggers and shaking heads.

It was as though it was a great secret. Or a sexual perversion.

I know that there are a lot of new people who come on to this forum who would benefit from the answer to this question.

As Mrs Merton would say:-

Lets have a heated debate.

Mulch is anything you cover the surface of the soil with, apart from plants or hard stuff. I use grass cuttings, you can also use dead leaves, straw, bark chippings, black plastic or doubtless a load of other things.

Thanks for that.

It is a brilliant list and should be a permanent feature.
