Hi am new to this site but could do with some advice we have just formed an allotment association and are trying to encourage people to enter produce in the local shows for a bit of fun. Has anyone got any idea where we can get a set of guidelines as to how we need to display veg at shows many thanks
hiya, velmc161, welcome to the site..there are a few people on here who have grown show veggies, they'll be along in a minute ;D
I don,t believe it i have just deleted all my photos from veg shows from the computer.
Never the less welcome to the site.
First step is to get the the spec ( selection of what you can enter ) from the show you are entering as they are not all the same. Dont know if you will be able to read this but here is an example

Tell me what you intend entering and will try and help as much as i can.
PS got the photos on disc i think.
Many thanks i am waiting for schedule should have it by tomorrow then will let you know what we are thinking of entering.

That is good prize money!!
With prizes like that I think I will come out of retirement ::)
Where is the schedule for?
I have just knocked this slide show up.
Quite a lot of the stuff was grown by yours truly and the rest by the competition.

I always knew that these excercise machines would come in handy. Our allotment is going to enter some veg at the Kings Heath show at the end of the month so am trying to get some onions to exhibit. Have brushed them with baby powder with a soft brush. Some still look a bit blotchy but they will have to do unless anyone else has got better ones to put in.
Cracked up here laughing, good use of machine!!!!
My father has just entered stuff off his allotment, in local competitions, and 'from what I can remember' got 3 x firsts 6 x seconds and a host of 3rds and 4ths, he is pleased with himself as he suffered a stroke last year, and has done all this by himself, and if he wins next week he gets his prize as rent free allotment for next year!
Sadly I live too far away to photo what he grows, but I now I still have a large box, of veg that was sent back with me
