I'm afraid this is a case for not following the notes on the packet Tim.

I usually sow mine towards the end of May- Early June, in fact I just pricked mine out last week.

Same here.  I sowed my Tundra 3rd week in May,  as per the packet.  You could sow some more now Tim.  They would be ok.

Sowed most of my brassicas in root trainers last w.e.  - not as the result of careful planning but because I've only just got round to it :)

Tim don,t you worry about, i have done the same and mine are about the same as yours. But i also have just put some Ormskirk and Tundra in the ground.
More of an experiment than anything else.., last year all my Spring cabbage went to seed very early but i had set a late planting away. I put half in the ground in November and held the other half back and put them in the ground in February.
I have had cabbage all year round so far.
My thinking was i can,t change the climate ( Global Warming ) but i can change my timings.

Out of Tundra, so sowed some Ormskirk, Celtic & Capriccio. Also Guardian - a Guardian offer. Terrible germination on 2 attempts.

I sowed a lot of my winter stuff in April because when I sow it later, it seems to get stuck in the not so big stage and not get any bigger.  It is not quite as big as your Tim but stuff does seem to grow slowly on my calcareous lotty.

Our cabbages are this high too.  We started them off in the greenhouse in March. They look really healthy.  Does this mean we won't get any cabbages and they are likely to go to seed?  ???

Depends what sort they are.  Summer cabbages e.g. Greyhound, are usually started in March.  Winter cabbages are usually started in April-May and Spring cabbages late June - early August.
