Title: sometimes the wildlife rebels against you
Post by: aquilegia on August 03, 2004, 09:23:19
went out for my morning walk around the garden before going to work today and was horrified to discover:

a pot knocked over and it's contents strune around the garden;
my module tray of beetroot seedlings knocked over and chomped just enough to make it unusable;
another polystyrene tray of aquilegia seedlings completely chewed to pieces and the plants vanished.

:'( :'( :'(

I think the foxes must've had quite some party last night.

But looking on the bright side (as I'm trying to do now!)

The pot contained some pinks that were rather past their best and I was planning on putting something else in there;
I managed to save about five of the beetroot and I hope to rescue more later;
I'd already potted up most of the aqui seedlings and there were only a few left in the tray which were tiny.

I have yet to investigate the whole they dug in some unused soil and what might be in there.

I suppose it's what happens when you garden with wildlife in mind, sometimes you have to accept that creatures you want to incourage die (like the dead frog in the pond last week) and sometimes those that you don't want pay you a visit.
