Title: Anyone know what this is?

On one of my onions today - bright green all over and about half an inch long.

think it's a shield bug ?
maybe not, just googled it and they look different..don't know then but we have them, too  ;D

It doesn't seem to have the 'shield' shape.  I thought maybe lacewing but I couldn't actually see the lacy wings either!

right shape but not as delicate as a lacewing..maybe you've discovered a new insect  ;D

is it a bush cricket? does it have grasshopper-like legs?
we get loads of bush crickets (the cat LOVES them because they jump!)

edit: no, just had a better look and it definitely isn't a bush cricket!

It looks like a bug, but not shield bug. Beyond that I couldn't say as I don't have the references I'd need.

I knew there'd be an expert or three along eventually!  Thanks Georgie - that's him.  Not sure my onions qualify as grasslands but maybe he was lost.
