Caught this woodpecker feeding the baby. This is as close as they allow one to get.

This carried on until the dratted magpie arived.

Wow Eric lovely photos. I have never seen a Woodpecker. Thank you for posting those photos.

Super photo, Eric.  My brother-in-law gets Woodpeckers on his feeders but I've never seen one here.

I thought that if the adult had red on the back of its head it was male. I get both visiting the feeders ie. with and without the red patch.
What camera do you use?

Oh lucky you, they are stunning birds. I have only ever had one at my feeders, that was in early spring this year.

Long may they feed in your garden :D
