Quite pleased with these, children have had 7 so far.
wow, lorna, what variety is it? and, what have you been feeding it ? ;D
Manic. They are Aviance, not grown from seed. A friend who works in a local nursery got me 2 female plants. She is not sure if you can buy seed o r if they are commercial, the nursery grow thousands each year. I will certainly ask her to get me more plants next year. Right or wrong I have fed them with tomarite!!
Fantastic! And you didn't have to hand pollinate!
GrannyAnnie. Last year I thought I had removed all male flowers and the cucumbers were still slightly bitter, so I decided female plants only. I have never grown them until last year. Late husband grew them for me and they were fine.
doesn't matter what you feed them, lorna, as long as they taste nice ;D
here's our first one today, trying to turn corners ;D
Manic. Variety? Did you have to remove male flowers? I am learning, family all love cucumbers, wish I had bought more plants as family have given thumbs up for the Aviance :)
ours are burpless, lorna, only one we've found that doesn't cause ray indigestion ;D
no, don't need to take off the flowers, it's supposed to be an outside one but we grow it under cover :)
Thanks Manic. Just interested for next year in case I can't get Aviance.
