Well I am just jealous. Here is a pic taken today of the 1st Strawberries I have ever grown. I did eat 2 before I took the pic, just couldn't resist ;D
Looking good, Lorna. The one on the farthest right looks ready to me - or are you saving that one for me? ;) ;D

Sorry Georgie you can have a cucumber but NOT my strawberries. Even the family won't get near them before I do ;D I even got Vickie to bring me some straw from her stables in case the little dears got muddy.

All I'm saying is that there was enough speculation when Grotbag kindly sent me some Asparagus spears in a cardboard tube. ::) :P

aw bless! My daughter has strawberries in her little pink raised bed at the allotment. I took her down yesterday to pick some for daddy, for fathers day tea. We returned home with three. This is no indication of how many she picked. very very few made it past her mouth ;D
Vegemite Well the thought was there, bless her.

My son planted the strawberries two years ago and we've had a handful each year. This year i have a strawberry mountain. Today i took an old 1 litre icecream container with me for strawberries and I had to use the supermarket carrier i took down for my Broad beans as well...about the equivalent to 3 of the ice cream containers heaped......and more coming tomorrow! The car smelt good inside on the way home a nice change from the usual compost smell. But it's been a long wait.
My first strawberries picked tonight!!. Not a punnet either :)

They look like perfection to me!
Is it just here in the "sunny" south, or has it been a good year everywhere for strawberries? Everyone on our site has had a bumper crop and it's not even Wimbledon Week yet....
I am jealous - i want strawberries......i only planted mine this year though so not expecting anything - looks like i will just have to go to the local pick you own this year.....oh well! ;)
ive had lots of flowers lots and lots, but none seem to be swelling up into fruits, they look like incy wincy yellow strawbs, do i need to water them or feed them or swear at them????? i sooo want strawbs!!! :'(

What a wonderful photo spring, felt I could reach out and lift them off the plate.
Mine are still stubbornly green apart from three I picked about a week ago LOL :)
I have to thank Ninnycrops, she sent me runners from her allotment and told me what to do. Only a small crop but its GREAT :)
I don't know if I should say this......I picked another two 1 litre icecream containers today some of these aren't as ripe as yesterdays but it's supposed to rain here tomorrow and if I left them the slugs will be out in force and get them.
Still it's taken 3 years to get here.
First handful of raspberries too!
My first crop of the year...

much more intense flavour than shop-bought ones, but less sweet and more sharp...
I was amazed at the redness inside - unlike commercial ones.
You cannot beat home grown.
OH likes them straight. I like some icing sugar on mine and then leave them for a bit to leak juice.
