Title: I'll show you mine if you show me yours
Post by: kt. on June 15, 2008, 11:34:47
I got this idea from another forum.  Lets see how your cucumber varieties are coming along.  Add your pictures to show of different varieties of cucumbers please.

Just had these emailed to me by my wife.  The long vertical ones are my Carmen (9"), the shorter ones are my Marketmore (6").  For my first year at growing them I am really pleased.

Mine have yet to be planted out. I finished the toms today, and started planting out squash, so they'll be out shortly.

My Marketmore haven't even started climbing yet. Planted the seed outdoors a few weeks ago.

All looking good. Kt how do you train your marketmore ? do you use a single cane? Do you have to remove male flowers?

I did Burpless Tasty outdoor last year and got nothing. So this is my first year with cucumbers really.  From potting on,  they are in a bucket of compost, with no base placed in the ground,  a 2litre pop bottle with the bottom cut off is inserted into the ground next to the plant.  Filled once daily to water the plant slowly.  It is trained up a single cane that is rigid to the roof of the greenhouse.  No flowers have been removed, just left to its own devices.
