Title: hovver bovver
Post by: derbex on August 02, 2004, 10:42:59
Was anyone else deluged with hover flies on Saturday? We were sailing off Harwich and ended up covered in them. You'd better duck Ina they're all headed your way -by the thousand.

Jeremy.

Wondering who's going to eat all the aphids now the hover flieas have left home.

They were still in my garden yesterday. Love them! One landed on my arm, then another later on my hand, I think they like my suntan lotion!

Got loads in the house too! They seem to like my conservatory! Garden is alive with them. On a  >:( note, we seem to have a major abundance of wasps, makes for eating alfresco a nuisance!

Zillions at the allotment on Sunday, and I mean swarms!  Everywhere I looked.  When there are that many....can they do damage to the plants they are bothering??

They are a godsend this year - no pests in the greenhouse for the first year in ages. = Tim

That is true Tim, nothing on my plot has been bothered by any pests...diseases are rife, but I can't blame the pests for my poorly veggies.  They don't taste very nice when you swallow them by mistake in your coffee  :P

Wish they'd eat flea beatles.

From experience they taste better with O-J, E-J  ;D (nearly swallowed one on Sunday).
