Daughter's Washing Machine blew up because rats had chewed away the insulation & were storing Pasta in the nooks!!
Any recommendations on a Washer/Drier - yes, we know!! - with an 8-10kg capacity. Young children & wet duvets etc!!
We have an LG DirectDrive - one breakdown - circuit board and now regularly swallows single duvets and not so small children ;)
indecit, 6 years, no(whispers) breakdown, fingers crossed, fingers crossed ;D
Tim,
Get your daughter to get rid of the rats first and then buy a new washing machine, if I was closer I would come down and do mi stuff to rid the rats for you ;)
I have a bosch washing machine 13 years old and only 2 minor problems in that time; clogged filter (left coins in my pockets), door seal torn very recently 30 minute job to replace it. Spares are easily available for any bosch appliance.
If I had to use a dryer I would be more inclined to get a separate machine rather than a combined washer/dryer, less to go wrong & if one fails you still have the other.
Do some of the combined ones work? I tried one once & it didn't actually dry!
Tim is that really you, Pilot wings or glider as i can only see the right side of them.
Hotpoint Ultima.
has she tried freecycle?
Wow - what a response!!
As I said - yes, we know that 2 units would be better, but in a small flat......??
Freecycle? Great system but She needs it NOW!!
Dishwasher blew on the same day.
Davy - who else?? Yes - a month after meeting my comeuppance!!

I shake you hand sir.
Tim if the both blew together have you checked the fuse. If the wires were damaged the the appliances should have blown at the fuse at the socket first.
Try a lamp in the socket to see if there is any power.
Great advice, Davy, but the little-chap-around-the-corner says they are gonners.
Where does one find all this make-good money these days when you have a mortgage & children?
Thank God that's all passed for us.
Tim,
I've just shown my wife your avatar you handsome buggar :) ;)

And they are both hard to get rid of LOL
My son says you look dashing :D :D :D :D :D :D :D I think you look damned handsome. :) :) :) :) :)
That smile ,at touch of the David Nivens. Miele everytime!
Miele. Haggle over price. Apollo did me a good deal. I researched on the internet and they met the lowest price I could find.
I'll go with the Miele, expensive but worth every £1!....and what an avatar, just what we need right now. ;)
We have a Bosch washing machine. 'A' rated for economy. Excellent washes everytime. We also took out Currys own extended 5 yr warranty. Called them out x2 no fuss. Turned out to be blocked socks too far in the drainpipe. Caused by me overloading it 8) 8) 8). Would'nt go with any other make now.
Pity you don't live here in North Staffs. T&G Electrics would have sorted your problem very quickly. No worries, and very reasonably priced.

Didn't read your post properly the first time around.
Washer/Dryer. it's all I have used for the past 15 years. For about 11 of those years I had a Phillips Whirlpool with a lifetime parts guarantee. It had to go when a connector rusted through. In the last 4 years, we have been through 3 machines :o :o and now on the LG. If I could find another Whirlpool, I would buy it like a shot.
With a combi, you can still use one function if the other goes kaput and can use it just for washing or drying.
Hope your daughter finds something soon. Suggest she looks on ebay as well as posting on Freecycle.
Last month, the Which? Best Buys were Miele WT2670, AEG-Electrolux L16830 and John Lewis JLWD1408.
Steady, now - let's keep our eyes on the ball!!
Thanks for all that. She'll probably do something in a hurry & regret it, but I'll try to let you know.

Special for Grannie - who's not into fur coats at present!!
I was in shorts - India 1944.
My Father-in-law was still wearing his army issue shorts from WW2 right up to the time he passed away :)
Why?
Obviously not a beer drinker??
Gazfor,
Because they kept his knees warm stupid!
Yes - the Army ones were 'over-knee'. I was reprimanded for wearing 'South African' type shorts!!
