My brother just fixed my car - thanks bro! However there were two trays in the boot, one of leeks and one of onions, which he managed to tip up all over the place, now I don't know which one's are which! They look salvageable but I'm stumped! Any tips apart from smell, cos they both smell onioney (is that a word?!)
??? ???
I think the leek stems will be more upright and thicker right up to the top whereas the onions will taper more and be thinner at the top although this will depend on how old the seedlings are - good luck :)

The leaf of the onion is round while the leaf of the leek is flat
Just been out - & my Leeks smell leeky!!
Thanks for that Tim! rofl Unfortunately my sense of smell is awful! ;)
Yes - Davy's idea that the Leek leaf is flat - no Onions to compare with.
Also if you run your finger up the edge of the plant you find the leek has a jagged saw blade feel to it.
It wont matter really which is which. It may look a bit odd when growing but so what they will still taste good :)
Thanks for all the help guys.
Ishard - guess it's my OCD tendencies coming out again lol - made a very pretty plan and now it's ruined, ruined I tell you!!! ;D
Well it looks like most of the leeks are a gonna :'( Have I got time to just direct sow??
Just wanted to bump this up before I go up lottie once my hangover has cleared! Would I be too late to direct sow leeks or onions?
I think you'd be fine with sowing leeks to be honest. They've got plenty of time to get established for the winter.
Most people round our site are trying to give their spares away so keep your eyes peeled too.

Thanks RBT - another couple of paractamol and aplanting I will go!
