This yellow barberry was a volunteer and the color was such a shockingly bright one it lit up the garden and was allowed to stay.
Have you fallen in love with any unexpected freebies or combinations?

Free is best. My favourite price

Looks well, but then it 'chose' to be there.

I have a friend who never weeds until she can identify the plant so that she does not miss a freebee.

I'm still waiting to see if this freebie is a poppy. A number of these sprouted in Feb by themselves and have been receiving tender loving care since I've never successfully grown poppies from seed. Tell me it isn't a weed :-\

Grannie Annie those poppies look very similar to some freebies that I accrued too in recent years, they had gorgeous round lilac flowers and they still spring up now.

Lets wait and see if yours are the same as mine ;D

Thank goodness for our little feathered friends and little gusts of wind.

We have tornado warnings today!  I'll be very disappointed if these get whipped away to Kansas!

The tornado didn't materialize as usual, just lots of rain. The slugs are happy which is the important thing ::)

I was so eager to get back home before dark last night (after a visit to Chincoteque, Virginia where the wild ponies run free in the marshes) to see if the poppies had bloomed. They're so tall and slender I was afraid they'd get knocked over by an animal or storm but they were standing. Will add photos  today to this post.(http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y253/nonrancher/181be680.jpg) Red poppies and

a peach-colored poppy of a different sort, I think it is some type of Oriental poppy (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y253/nonrancher/930cbd63.jpg)

Heeheee. Wait til my husband hears this- it isn't enough for me to be worrying about my plants on vacation- now I've got you worrying over them! :D
I'll have to take a picture of the pink ones that ended up growing near some blue salvia- such a pretty combo I'll try to repeat it next year. don't you luv surprises?
