Title: Rhubarb questions
Post by: caroline7758 on May 25, 2008, 15:41:04
I asked my rhubarb-hating OH to get me some rhubarb from the plot while he wasgetting some asparagus for tea. In his ignorance he cut the stems rather than twisting the whole stem off. Will it do the plants any harm leaving the cut ends on?

The theory is that leaving a stump can allow rot to travel down it into the crown but I think you'd have to be pretty unlucky if you usually pull them.  Are you sure it isn't sabotage from your rhubarb-hating OH?! ;)

You could be right, ceres! ;D
i've got so much rhubarb that I think I'd have trouble finding the stumps,so maybe I won't worry too much!
