Title: Tomatoes in growbags
Post by: caseylee on May 24, 2008, 09:25:05
which is the best way to grow tomatoes in growbags, I have 6 that I have cut eh bottom of the pots off and stuck them in, and three I have take out the pots and just put them in.  The ones without the pots look like they are sitting on a molehill and not very safe to me, ant advice please.

What you have done will be fine.

Just put some canes to tie them to for support

I grow most f mine in growpots, but I don't yet have enough for all I grow so I either use Nescafe tins with the bottom cut out (each lasts about 2 years before it rusts and becomes useless) or 8" pots with the bottom cut out.
Which ever method you use you need to provide something for the tomato to climb - I always use twine either hung from wires along the greenhouse roof or outside from a frame. As longs as the base of the plant can't flap about in the breeze you won't have any problems.
