anyone on these allotments on here?
Sefton park is having an open day on june 29th, all the 90 plots will be open and the palm house will be the centre of attention,
Rare and unusual plant sale, will be taking my cash card ;D
afternoon teas and entertainment,
we're taking two 90 year olds, that'll be entertainment for everybody ;D ;D ;D
my uncle used to have an allotment up there
the last time I was in Sefton Park it was full of Rastas smoking weed, and the time before that I had a nasty incident being chatted up by an old gay bloke. I was only about 16
It's probably much nicer now the Palm House has been restored
maybe that's how they paid to do it up, the weed ;D ;D
One of only six sites in the NGS book... but we are the biggest (Size does matter!) ;D
Thanks for letting us know, we are in North Sudley Road in Liverpool so not too far away. Will definately be having a look.
hahahahaha hi sam!!!!! are you going up later hon? love rach x
do post some pics manics or anyone else who goes. It'd be nice to see them (that's the plots and the palm house, not your 90 year olds - no offense intended, after all we are Allotments 4 All, not 90 year olds 4 All) :D
Elvis2003 I understand what you meant on the phone now about being on-line, I thought you'd lost the plot!!!!!!
By the way, I got loads of seeds. Going to go back tomorrow for the ones i have missed when i have checked at home.

say hello, you'll recognise us, we'll be the ones with a geriatric 4'11" lady in a wheelchair, poking all the big people with her stick, shouting "can you move out of my way !!" ;D

I went to Sudley Road Infants School. I met a bloke on a train to Liverpool who had been there the night it burnt down
Elvis: We must have just missed you, we popped in to see you but there was no-one there. I will be up there tomorrow am (hopefully). Sam x
Manics: I will keep my eyes peeled. My mum used to do that in her wheelchair. She once cleared a whole section of the Trafford Centre using her walking stick. I was mortified!!! ;D ;D
Rhubarb Thrasher: I went to Sudley Infant School as well. When were you there (if you dont mind giving your age away???). I dont remember it burning down, when was that?
gonz - I was there up to (Ithink) about 1967. I was then going to the big school (down the hill toward the Prom, onto the main road, turn left toward Garston Village), but instead I ended up in a tiny village school with two rooms in Menheniot in Cornwall
The bloke I met on the train was circa 1980. He was a civilian entertainment chap on a warship, and his uncle was Eric Heffer MP
What I remember about Sudley Road were lots of corrugated iron painted green (or blue), the smell of furniture polish, and the horrible custard with prunes. My friend Negeeb (?) whose familly were from Egypt used to astonish us all by eating the prunes AND THE PRUNE STONES AS WELL. Didn't he know how DANGEROUS that was ??
Rhubarb Thrasher: I was there about 1974. My sister was there just after you. Do you mean Sudley Junior School on Aigburth Road. I went there too. Dont remember the custard or the prunes!!!!!
Did you live near to Aigburth Vale?
my grand-parents lived in Lugard Road, opposite the entrance to Sudley Road Infants. They still had their black-out curtains up from the War. I'm sure the school then was mostly Nissan Huts. We lived in Pitville Avenue, which is in Mossley Hill
Must have been Sudley Junior I was going to go to. I went there for an open day with my parents, but then we moved to Cornwall
Its a small world. I lived in Aigburth Vale above the florist shop until about 10 years ago and then moved to by the Garden Festival (still in Aigburth though).

Think I might be a bit to busy.
As you will see what I mean when I post the before pictures of my new lottie later
Are any of us still going tomorrow.
it's on sunday, 29th, hoping to get there ;D
I might pop along for a look - it is a nice walk down to the park for me ...
well i went down today and got soaked ! the glass house was so disorganised I gave up and went to look for the allotments. had a warm welcome and walked around even though the weather was terrible and the odd person who was in their plots were very friendly and had a good chat to them all.
got some great ideas but would love to go back when the weather is better. the weather was so different later on in the afternoon. but hey never mind.
did anyone else manage to go ?
visitors didn't go 'til 1 p.m. ::)
by that time, it was persisiting down, can't believe the weather now, like a different day ;D
do they let visitors in on other days blue bird ?
I had an urgent BBQ in Warrington to attend - and then had to pick up Karen from the train, so sadly missed it.
Anyone got any photos?
sorry no photos as was -------- down and even more annoying when I got home soaked to the skin the sun came out. I am hoping to call in again and with a bit of luck they will let me have a luck around again.
they were every friendly so do hope so.
