Hi,

Aquilegias come up everywhere in my garden all year from April onwards, so unless you are sowing specialist varieties, I'd say put em in any time, anywhere, pretty much any compost will do  ;D

I don't have any seeds, but if you haven't got any in a couple of weeks time, PM me and I will send you some young plants - mainly plain blue and deep pink so far this year.  Of course, it will be anyone's guess what I dig up as they won't have flowered.

Cheers

These are best sown when the seed is fresh so basically this is as soon as possible after flowering.

I'll be collecting Aquilegia seeds when they are ready and as TG says, I find it is best sown fresh.  I see Froglets has offered you baby plants but if you would also like some seed then PM your details.  I don't want anything in return.   :)

They grow like weeds in my garden.   If you want seed, I can give you enough for about 25 sq yards,  just PM me.

They grow like weeds in my garden.

They are weeds! along with wild foxgloves, love in a mist, cornflowers, the list goes on and on. I have been pulling and howing all weekend to get rid of the rubbish.

The worst one is the single  echium pininiana I grew for a joke, I told everyone it was a triffid, I wasn't far off as it as seeded everywhere and is taking over.

Well you are unfortunate having such a mild climate Ace, my echiums get knocked back by the frost so altho hundreds germinate, only a couple ever make it.

a weed is only something that you don't like, is in the wrong place, or there are too many of them and it means a bit of work to get rid of

love aquilegias - there is another thread on them if you care to search  :)

ok i might be pushing my luck here but if anyone has self saved seeds that they would part with of what Ace would consider a weed but the rest of you consider to be flowers (foxgloves etc) i would love some of them :)

Hi llb   if you want some grannys bonnet seeds ill send you some if you pm me,  if you are saving them for next year put them in a envalope and place inside your fridge for at least 5 weeks, you can even leave them in there till early next year for early sowing in a propergator, better still sprinkle some seeds now where you want them to grow next year and propergate rest next year, regards Andy
