Mine doing okay and bulbing up now. Better year than last year - the warm April last year had a few bolting.
I've pulled off a few seed heads but no idea how to stop these. ;D ;D ;D
I've been pulling fat necks and ones with flower heads for a couple of weeks - just as my maincrops starting to go off. Haven't bought onions or garlic for over two years now. :D
I'm not sure about these. Ours look like they are getting bigger but one started to go to seed so I pulled it expecting some sort of bulb and all I got was a slim leek type thing! Maybe the others will form bulbs?
They only bulb up right at the end of the growth cycle.
Mine seem to be doing okay although some of the red ones are very small still.

that's interesting, I didn't know that, it explains a bit why they haven't yet formed their bulbs. Thanks Robert.
right, thicko vegemite here, I have some "fat necks" too- are we pulling them up for a reason or just because they are semi- ready? my red ones are doing great but not sure if I should be pulling these ones out???? ???
Fat necks are ones that are going to bolt and like ones that have bolted, don't keep as well so it is a case of just using the ones that will have to be used first anyway.
