Title: sleepless nights!
Post by: suhayb on July 27, 2004, 00:33:14
my plot runs east to west, with trees at the bottom in the west.  I intent to make a raised-bed as a seed-bed in the middle of the plot.

having sleepless nights -
should i run it north to south OR east to west? (for max light etc.)

reguarding beans- given the choice would u "Run your Row of Runners" (deliberate alliteration for the poets out there!?!)
N-S or E-W.

On a grape growing pg it said vine yards grow their rows N-S for min light reduction, but does this apply to small plots, i.e. pototoes next to runners next to dwarf french or 75cm heigh peas??

thanks

My plot runs almost due E-W and my raised beds are aligned N-S accross the width of the plot either side of a central path. Generally I have planted N-S rows but this only really applies to my tall crops requiring support as everything else I've plant in blocks. Seems to be working OK.

My plot runs left to right and back to front, and things seem to do just groovy.  :P
