I sowed some melons, they are getting their new leaves now (true ones) but I noticed that a couple are starting to have a problem - the first leaves are getting brown crinkled edges. Have I put them in a bad position? or is it a disease? I took pics but forgot the camera lead today so can't upload them :(
They are indoors for now but they have been outside for brief periods too. They were in with the tomatoes until the toms got hoiked outside.
Anyone suggest something?? thanks
My minnesota midgets (first time with melons) are the same. I thought it was because they'd got a bit too cold at some point but look forward to hearing a voice of experience.
yes it sounds like they are objecting to being moved around too much and are suffering a bit from the temperature changes - you'd go crinkly at the edges if moved from warm room to a cold room ;D
I wouldn't worry about it
could be too much direct sunlight, with what weve had recently they can go papery arround the edges
hmm that is possible they were just under the window. Will they recover? Will this affect new leaves that form? and is it harmful if the first non-true leaves are damaged??
It's the first time I am growing melons as you can tell...
Hi :) get ready,,,,,,,,Yes, no, no.
phew! ;D
Thanks Ishard :)
You are very welcome :)
phew, i feel kind of relieved now! I promised my little girl that we would have melons in the garden and I had visions of lurking round the nursery looking for plug plants :P
as i promised, here is a pic of my little melon plant...

From now on I would water those from the bottom if you can, if you water them too much from the top they can rot.
well I had wondered if maybe water had gotten on the leaves and then burnt them? by them being in sunlight?
