Title: trailing cucumber?
Post by: littlegem on May 11, 2008, 16:30:08
i know you can grow cuc's so that they run along the ground (outdoor)  i was wondering if anybody had grown them in a container to trail down.  i'm just potting up some stuff in containers to put ontop of our whiskey barrel water butts and i thought of cucumbers.  are the stems strong enough to withhold the weight of the fruits. they hold them while growing upwards.  if i can grow them in pots, do i need to make sure the bottom of the plant is nat the top of the pot so it doesnt bend too much.  thanks

Hiya, it might work with a net trailing down? But I wouldn't fancy you chances without support... It'd be interesting to see, I think you'll end up with a proper mess!
