Sowed all my peas in toilet tubes.
Had a really strange looking plant/fungi germinate instead. Three toilet rolls have this instead of peas. ???
It looks like the underside of mushroom with a stalk. Curling open to reveal it.
I guess its some type of fungi??
I had thousands of little toadstools on mine as well - growing up between the rolls.
I ended up ditching the lot, as the seed compost I put them in was serious rubbish anyway. Quite disconcerting really, specially as when I tried to cultivate proper mushrooms, all I got was one !
they not harming the peas, do I really have to ditch them :(
Do you think their spores were in the toilet rolls?

Sounds like you are having the same problem that I did. I too sowed peas in toilet roll tubes and along with the peas got some interesting looking fungus....as I'm new to veg growing I thought I had better throw them all away just to be on the safe side :( Would it be too late to sow a fresh batch now?
If the peas are OK, ignore the fungi. They'll be fine.
we had them all over the toilet roll tubes the leeks were in last year, we just planted them, they died off, the leeks were fine ;D
Ah well at least I know for next time!
im glad you said that, im ignoring them too, rotfl, i hope im not growing a poo! between kids man and animals i see enough of that thankyou muchly!!!!
;D ;D ;D ;D Oh heck.....if ANYONES poo looks like and upside down mushroom..........see the doc!! ;D ;D ;D
I love the odd looking fungi that comes out of toilet rolls. Newspaper is quite different, its like a yeast growth and clouds of spores rise up then you water the compost. The plants are fine though ;)
The fungi are harmless to the seedlings. They are part and parcel of the toilert tube beginning to break down. which a good sign.
I planted my toms, runner beans, sweet peas etc in loo rolls last year. Only prob was i did it when i had a cold. Didn't realise the missus had bought a bogof offer of highly scented loo rolls with a real stinky centre, approximately 36 of the blighters. Corr didn't my polytunnel smell really perfumed before i planted them out. I didn't half get some stick over that one........................
;D ;D
