Title: American mildew on gooseberries
Post by: davholla on May 06, 2008, 11:56:22
Yesterday I went to spray my gooseberries with washing soda solution to stop this but it was too late for my Langley gage.

I cut the infected bit off and sprayed it  and the others with the preventive mix.
Apart from spraying and watering every day does anyone have an idea to prevent any more damage.

I tried to save mine a couple of years ago but ended up digging the two bushes I had up and burning them  :(

I removed the infected parts and sprayed(but with what I cant remember).Infact i almost cut the two plants down too the ground!

New shoots came but the mildew came again so I burned them. The weather was very humid at the time and the mildew came with a vengeance.

My bushes were very close together as well and that didnt help.

I cured them - spraying with washing soda seems to have done the trick.
