Anyone ordered any? And if so was it sucessful? If it was any recommendations?
Both my distance and my sunglasses have big scratches on them and at the price our optician charges.....I just can't afford it!
DP
GLASSES DIRECT.CO.UK
Have used them twice, as long as you have your prescription they can do it. Lots to choose from and decent prices.
Funny that Katy, I was just looking at them, and have uploaded a photo of me, and have been "trying on" several pairs! ;D (Blinking clever that!)
I was looking at the funky coloured ones until my 19 year old proclaimed they looked funny and I was far too old to be wearing funky glasses! :o ::) :'( ;D
So thank You, will continue looking...also been "trying on" at speckyfoureyes......gotta love that name! ;D
Hi Doris, I've bought about 3 pairs now online over the last couple of years and they've been FAB! I have used a couple of companies including speckyfoureyes who were excellent.
I don't think you are EVER too old for some funky specs, I'm a hairdresser and have clients of all ages but I reckon some of my clients in their seventies have more style and confidence than some in their mid twenties. Go for it, get yourself a pair of funky specs and ENJOY them!!! ;D
Go for it Doris, the funky specs, as Glosterwomble says you're never too old, I had a purple streak put in my hair two weeks ago and I love it............................I also have a free bus pass ;D

A purple streak... :o :o :o Sinbad you devil!!! ;D

Snap,I had some purple streaks, they were meant to be chestnut red ,came out wrong but they looked pretty good.
Reminds me of that poemI shall wear purple. :)
I was actually looking at a purple pair! ;D ;D They say if you are not embarrassing your children, you obviously are not having enough fun!
Time for fun! ;)

well done, you go for it!
Well I am now the proud owner of a pair of bright blue prescription specs, and all for the brilliant price of £20!!
Just waiting for another pair to arrive, and some sunglasses, the total cost for the 3 pairs............£80! ;D ;D
Never shopping at my local spec shop again!
Yaaaay, well done DP! Makes you wonder why anyone ever goes to specsavers doesn't it?!
;)
Cooooooool! ;D ;) Which site did you get them from DP?
glassesdirect.co.uk Gloster, Katie was right! Thank you Katie :-*
Now have to order a pair for my Mum, a friend or 3 are ordering, they just waited to see how I got along! ;D
If you read the blurb on the site about the lad that started it, it is very interesting, well done him!
Fab timing! Thanks. Have been umming and aaahing over prescription sunglasses again today!! Have clips, which I preferred - £20 as opposed to the £400 for lenses alone that I was quoted locally, but would still prefer proper glasses.
Will def look further - so far, looks like around £100 - I usually have thinner lenses as they're so strong!
My £40 sunnies are apparently arriving tomorrow............well excited i am! ;D
Oh no! I wish I'd seen this thread earlier. Could have save me a fortune. Oh well, it's done. By the way when I have my eyes tested can I just walk away with the pescription?
I've considered getting glasses online before but asked the same questions as in here really.
I've just looked on glassesdirect website and thier designer glasses are way more expensive than specsavers! my current quicksilver frame was £100 + £40 for reaction lenses but I got a second pair of quicksilver glasses (different frame) and lenses for free.
On that website the same frame is £140. Not sure if this includes lenses though.
So although this site looks great for normal frames (and there are some very nice ones on there) if your looking to spend a little bit more, I'd still suggest a quick visit to your local opticians.
Shane
p.s. I don't work for specsavers or anyone like that lol nor do I work in the optical industry. All views are based on my own neandering experiences and have no scientific basis at all ;D
I recently used www.thinlenses.co.uk (http://www.thinlenses.co.uk) and I am extremely impressed with their service. Their prices are amazing.
I have a High Prescription and prefer wearing High Refractive Lenses to help reduce the thickness of my glasses, this helps with my confidence. In the past I have paid extortionate amounts of money to the High Street Retailers for this priviledge, something that I would consider an essential requirement. This why I was so amazed that I was able to purchase two pairs for a lot less than what I would have normally paid for one pair from the High Street Retailers.
It was my first time buying glasses online. I found the process very easy as I was contacted by their Customer Service team via telephone and I was able to speak to a person who guided me through the whole process from helping choose frames from there wide selection, right through to when they contacted me to make sure I was happy with my new glasses when they arrived.
I would recommend www.thinlenses.co.uk (http://www.thinlenses.co.uk) to anyone and definately think they're worth a try.
Don't like to be cynical, but is the above post the first one from this poster and could it be an advert?
Do the frames have to be tailored to fit individuals heads or is it a case of 1 size fits all? I have never ordered glasses online but I am tempted.
Hmmm Caroline, maybe!
Silly billy, all these sites seem to give you quite a bit of help, and give measurements for frames etc. I read on one of them something about the numbers on the inside of your existing frames, can be matched to a similar pair online. (mine of course had rubbed off!)
I found them very helpful on the phone too.
Lacelotte your last bit made me smile! I don't work for any of them either! Was just looking for low cost specs! And as I am cheap I have gone for the £20 pairs! ;D ;D
Just not designer material me! ;D Interesting to note their designer frames were more expensive, just goes to show it pays to shop around! ;)

I just wanted reassure you that my post is not an advert. I just wanted to let others know of the excellent customer service I received and the amazing saving I made by using www.thinlenses.co.uk. I unfortunately have a High Presciption so to help with my confidence I prefer wearing High Refractive Lenses, which from my experience has always cost me a lot of money, this is why when I made a saving without compromising on the quality, as with glasses this a risk you don't want to take. I thought if anyone is in a similar situation to what I was in before I found them, they could contact them themselves and enquire, or visit the website.
I found it very difficult when I was researching to find honest and credible feedback. This is why I thought that if I shared my experience, others could benefit. I know it may read like an advert, but if you have no complaint about a company and can only but praise them, how else should I word it.
I for years have paid over inflated prices to the High Street Retailer, this is why I was so impressed when I came across www.thinlenses.co.uk. Everyone's entitled to be pessimistic, but surely we should give credit when it's due. This is why I personally think that the staff at www.thinlenses.co.uk should really be praised, from my own experience they were extremely helpful, they help me save a fortune and I am over the moon with my purchase.
Thankyou Doris. I have some numbers on my glasses so I will look into what they mean. Thanks.
trouble is, I can't read the numbers on my glasses without my glasses on ;D ;D ;D
MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA Manics! ;D ;D ;D
