Does anyone know whether Mill Farm nursery in South Milford(the one that used to do 50 perennials for 15 pounds) is still as good as ever?
I used to go a lot as it's not far from me, but all the online references seem to be about the tearooms and the nursery website is no longer accessible, so I don't want a wasted journey if the plants have been sacrificed to the tea!I have sent them an email but just wondered if anyone local knows anything?
Hi Caroline.
We had a trip there last year, and we came away without spending a penny. I've been before, a good few years ago, and spent a fortune, but the plants didn't seem very well cared for at all and were very bedraggled.
To be fair, it was chucking it down when we went, so we were hurriedly looking, but I don't think I'd go again.
Have you been to the nursery/garden centre in South Milford. It's in a huge greenhouse. I can't remember the name of it, but they have a car boot sale there.
Also, I can really recommend Swillington nursery in Leeds. Good plants and reasonable prices. Also, if you decide to go to Swillington, there is Savilles on the A63. It's part of Strikes group, but you can sometimes pick up a bargain.

eh up caroline
I am in south milford at the weekend so will call it and check for you ;)
Thanks, longlad. I quite like Saville's, but haven't been to Swillington. I think I know the other one you mean in S.M.- good for trees, I think.
been plants not too bad but its worth a ride just for the cream tea ;)
the things you put yourself through for mates ;D
Thanks very much, longlad- may just have to go and check it out myself to make sure! ;D
They stopped doing mail order which ment no more from them for me :(
