Title: Good companion to grow with French beans
Post by: Kea on April 30, 2008, 12:09:17
Does anyone have any suggestions of a good plant/plants to sow between rows of climbing French Beans that benefit the beans and keep the weeds down between the rows?

I had a problem last year my climbing French beans weren't very bushy so lots of weeds came up between the rows and they were difficult to remove because of the canes.

You could try growing your beans through black plastic to keep the weeds at bay, or a heavy mulch. Would keep the weeds away and help retain moisture too  :)

marigolds, strawberries, many herbs, cucumbers are all companions to beans  :)
