I run Nik Kershaw's (better known in the 80's) chat forum and he is paying for me to go on an all expenses paid trip to one of his gigs later this year.  :)

Not I have only met him the once and that was back in 98,running his forum was kind of an accident, I was a member of his old forum but was unhappy about how it was run so I set up a rival forum, a few months later Nik's girlfriend contacted me and my forum became his official one which is now far bigger and better than the one he had before.  :)

Mick I worship at your feet. I loved Nik Kershaw.  :D  What a fab man he is!

My claim to fame.........um.........I live in the town where Gavin and Stacey is filmed it's lush! lol I have David Tennants autograph and it has a kiss on it!  Part of the 1st series of Dr. Who was filmed literally just down the road from me and the episode in last years series where you couldn't blink or the psycho angel statues would get you was filmed in my mates neighbourhood and when the house blew up, hers was the one next door!  Oh and I once went out with a Jon Bon Jovi lookalike.  ;D

My only wish now is to marry Limahl and live happily ever after in my legwarmers  ;D

I hope your a woman posie  ;D have you heard any of Nik's newer stuff? its way better than his older stuff.

If your a fan of Limahl are you also a fan of kajagoogoo and do you know they are back together? on the same subject Nick Beggs from kajagoogoo is big mates with  Nik Kershaw and has worked on a few of Nik's albums.

I most certainly am Mick rofl.  No I haven't heard his new stuff, I seem to be permanently welded in the 80's.  And yes I am most definitely a Kajagoogoo fan - in fact I had Too Shy blasting earlier, not to mention Neverending Story lol - I love Limahl *sighs*.  I wouldn't say I was a die hard fan, but they were pretty fab and I had (okay, okay, still have at the age of 34) a massive crush on Limahl  :-[ :-[ ;D

Wow - he really hasn't aged that much! Got me all of a dither now! Still it beats writing an essay about the impact of devolved policy making in the UK using Wales as an example!!!

Too shy shy, hush hush, eye to eye.......ah them were the days.  Shame they're not doing any gigs down Wales way  :'(

Thanks for the link Mick, it's now firmly in my favourites along with A4A naturally.

As a boy soldier 20 years ago, a colleague and I did a Judo display for the Queen mother then chatted to her afterwards.

I also went to Jimmy Nails Christmas party when the series Spender was on TV.  My brother was invited as he worked for the design company that provided the costumes for the set.

Yep they are doing Bratislava, Denmark and Scotland apparently so far......

the London Boys - where did you drag that up from sheddie - it's like looking at Peter Andre with extra tackiness added! scary stuff lol  (my abject apologies if you are in fact one of the London Boys rofl) and Frank Carson was fab, his mother in law jokes were usually the best lol

Was never a fan of Ken Dodd but remember by Nan being in absolute stitches the minute he opened his mouth lol - me, I was a Russ Abbot fan!  ;D

Not really a claim to fame - but one night when pissed up, walking out of Kings College Cambridge with a friend - i said "All right mate" to Steven Hawkins who was coming the other way with an harem of fit Thai nurses... never waited for his reply though. The next day we were stopped by Peter Ustinov and asked for directions to the Corn Exchange.

As far as I know there will be more coming up but I wouldn't want to give anything away,  Kaj do have a (very poor) forum which gets updated more than the website but I still seem to know what the boys are doing before both of them.

Hi Posie,

The London Boys were class - backflips on top of the pops! - can't remember anyone else doing that!..

Harlem Desire is ringing in my head now! - ha, ha, ha, ha Harlem......

Sadly, they were both killed in 1996 - car accident in the Alpines - a sad loss to the world indeed :-[

Due to the business I used to be in ( entertainment) the list of famous people I've met is endless so the one claim to fame I'll mention is that I was an 'expert' on the Generation Game back in Brucie's day making balloon models.

I've also had a cup of tea made for me by the World Tea Tasting champion in Kuala Lumpur. It wasn't bad.

Its a break away from tradition though..a cosy should be used and it should be knitted and multicoloured in my opinion!

claim to fame, or claim to shame?!? I've been kissed by Keith Chegwin :-[
the Saturday Swapshop came to the Hatfield forum and I got picked from the audience to go up on stage to win a goodie bag. I had to eat more jam sandwiches than the other kid. I hate jam, but I still won – oh, the determination of a small child! the goodie bag then got nicked by someone in the row in front of me... I was scarred for life (by both!)

and my mum went to school with one of the blokes in Blake's Seven (can't remember which one though ::))

I touched Ailsa Fisher's bum once - if you know who she is!

It was a the world premiere of a film called the Wedding Crashers where i proposed to my then fiance. We did the whole red carpet bit - press interviews. showing ring to the paparazzi etc. Watched film. Went to after party which was a whose who. Everywhere you looked there were people from TV - luckily enough i am not bothered by famous people so i just went about my business enjoying the free bar and food! Our PR lady on the other hand was quite excited to be there. Some of the bigger names were Vince Vaughn, and Owen Wilson - and then some to fill out the room - people from soaps, Jody Marsh, Callum Best (was quite amusing when they wouldn't let him in the VIP area)

was a fun night.

Grange Hill used to be filmed at a local school that had closed down. although we never saw any of the cast at the school, we used to have regular discos at the local country club and they all turned up one Friday night but weren't allowed in because they didn't have tickets lol! I always roll this one out at times like this. Sting's Dad Ernie was our Milkman, and one summer when Sting or should I say Gordon, was a student he came round to collect our milk money. Also Blood on the Wire is filmed at the top of our street, and I am always going past the house when all the film vans are there and hoping they will ask me to be an extra.  Also one of the actors from Emmerdale lives just over the road. When I was 19 I saw the Beatles at the Majestic in Newcastle and Paul McCartney looked at me as I was sitting on a boys shoulder.  ;D Saw the Hollies before they were famous and talked to them after their concert and Graham Nash wrote his autograph on my hand.  Yes!! I never washed that hand for months.  :D busy_lizzie

On stage with Harry Hill at an Edinburgh Festival being attacked by a plastic cat.....shouldn't have sat in the front row.
Sat next to Jerry Harden and wife at another Edinburgh Festival production. he's been in everything from star trek to x-files (deep throat character), a character actor. i had a chat to his wife.
My youngest son won the under 7 age group for a Smart portrait competition when he was 4 years old he was on TV being interviewed by Mark Speight, we had lunch with the Smart team later. really sad to hear about Mark he was really nice and quite good with children.

Much earlier while still in NZ was involved with a Science programme and met all the presenters on that one was quite famous in NZ.

My husband was once nearly run over by Stephen Hawkins in Cambridge and had a beer with Phil Hammond the other Doctor/comedian. (i say other because Harry Hill was a Doctor as well).

I can't think of any others but living in Edinburgh and going to the festival you bump into all sorts....stood next to (at the bar) the 'Just a minute' lot....Derek Nimmo was still alive and paul Merton had just started.

So true Kea,  I saw Lee Evans there on a 50p ticket when he was unknown, Dave Spikey was the warm up for Joe Brand ( & much funnier), went to a fab one man play by the chap who now plays the lead in Taggart, shared a train carriage with Chick Murray, and said hello to the old dear who was janet in Dr Findlay getting onto a train at Haymarket, Josie Lawrence at Waverley.  Makes me want to do it again this year but I'm not sure I have the stamina for 4 shows a night! especially the awful ones that you have to leave early from.

I went to school with a chap who became a presenter on daytime telly for a while but I can't remember his name, I wasn't that interested. OH is distantly related to Clive of India.  That more imressive that Chick Murray in a train.

our research group was on Blue Peter - demonstrating an electronic sensor that detected when fish was off. They sent us several 4 foot high polystrene noses with the instructions that we painted some of them pink and some of them brown. We had the sensor on the bottom and a flashing light on the top, and a secret switch round the back that switched the light on if it didn.t work (it didn't, though the fish absolutely stank)

My friend Ally used to get off with girls by pretending to be Midge Ure from Ultravox, so if anyone's claim to fame is they sh@gged Midge Ure, it was very probably a short-@rsed lawyer from Edinburgh

That would be ?Simon Biaggi   whose father was an orthopaedic surgeon at the Peel Hospital, Froglets. Not many famous folk from Gala, well maybe John Collins the man who  was player Manager at Hibs.

My Mum and Dad met Prince Charles, Princess Ann, Duke n Duchess of Kent and all the Royal hangers on in the 70s when they  worked in a Big House  here in the Borders when they were visitors.  Duke of Kents dogs were untrained and used to pee against the Silver Wine Cooler.  My poor Dad had to clean up after them.  They did leave them a good tip though.  Mum was so nervous serving Sir Alec Douglas Hume that she spilled gravy over him.  She also played the piano while Ludovic Kennedy played drums. ;D ;D

No it wasn't Simon, he was and is seriously droolworthy!!!!  Is that another of the same family presenting on Scottish TV now?  I think I caught the name last weekend & heard the Biagi name - it was a lass, Fiona or some such.  Anyway, I can't remember the chap's name now, & I don't think he was originally from Gala & always seriously played down his connection to the town.  Probably lived in Melrose!

When I was a lecturer at Rotherham College of Arts & Technology in 1994 the then Labour Leader John Smith came on a visit - we had a small chat about miners retraining after being made redundant (bless Margaret Thatcher). He seemed like a very approachable ordinary bloke who was sincere in his wish to help people - gave me a good feeling about the Labour Party.

The next day I heard the News that he had died of a heart attack - how very sad and what a real loss. Tony Blair does not seem to represent anything of the old Labour Party - nor for that matter does Gorden Brown. Bring back the real Labour values!

My biggest claim to fame is that I was on Newsnight with Jeremy Paxman  :o
Very scary I can tell you haha

One of my other special moments was when I was invited to a party held at Granada studios that had twenty or so Coronation Street stars attend, that was a great day.

Met lots of other stars too, too numerous to mention.

My biggest claim to fame was when I was 17, I was appointed Her Majesties Lord Lieutenant of Durhams cadets. In one year I had lunch with Prince Charles, met Princess Anne twice, helped to give out 3 MBE's and my favourite was going on a visit with Prince Philip around HMS Trincomalee and having lunch afterwards. He really is a top bloke!

Still waiting to meet the Queen though  ;)

Oh and I once got a kiss on the cheek from Melinda Messenger. Still haven't washed it.  ;D
