when should i put my sprouts in to bigger pots.
What are they in now? Mine are in modules, 15 to a tray,1 to each module, and I intend to put them straight into the ground from there.
Mine are in a pottery dish waiting for germination :-[
they are in a 2" deep tray about 20 in it.
Prick them out when they are this size; http://tinyurl.com/3awb32
I have just transplanted mine into the ground today. (Bedford Fillbasket). The plants were about 4 inches high.
I suppose it depends how much space you have. I pot mine up into 4 inch pots so I can use the ground for other crops first. I will put them in after a batch of spinach has been eaten and cleared.
I always try and delay planting out as late as possile of all my crops to make the most of the ground I have (just don't let the plants get pot bound as they never recover).
As my sprouts are going to be in the ground till next year i try to time them to go in where i take out my first row of early spuds so they are where my brassica will be next year then i dont have to take anything out early
davyw1 that's a good idea. I am resowing mine as the first lot just didn't grow properly. If that doesn't work i will buy plug plants. 6 or 8 sprout plants are more than enough for me.
Why are mine so lanky and then I start losing them? Got 3-5 to a plastic cup.
am i too late to be sowing things for winter crop or is it still too early?? im sorry not got a clue first year an all, i have what i am calling my nursery bed i wanted to use this for salad stuff during summer then a few winter things is this ok to do? i will certainly have to drag a book or 2 out but any advice will be greatly recieved......mpg also sorry i put this on this thread....
MPG yes you can sow more now.
Dont forget to prepare the growing position now so the ground can compact.
(sprouts grow best in really compact soil.

I take it that you set them away in plastic cups then
Transplanted mine two weeks ago and they all got eaten overnight by pigeons. I have some more though, Noisette and Bedford Fillibasket.
BACKUPS! I'm beginning to realise its the most important thing about gardening.

Do you put your seeds straight into the plastic cups or into a seed tray first then prick them out into a plastic cup, as you said you had 3 to 5 to a cup.
Seeds in a plastic cup. Going to plant them on when I get some time into a plant per pot.
