I admit to be completely lazy last year and buying in my courgette plants and my potimarron (that died anyway) as small plants. None of that wimpy stuff this year! I was armed with courgette seeds, melon seeds and 2 varieties of pumpkin. Seeds in 2 inch pots. Hey presto, 8 days later little green thing spopping out.
9 days later a huge stalk about 8 cm high
10 days later, a 12 cm stalk and two massive leaves and more on the way...
HHHEEEELLLPP!!!
what am I to do? these are triffids! can someone advise me on potting on these monsters? they are on a window sill but I can see that is going to be no use. Can I keep them outside now under glass? in a mini cold frame on the balcony? and what size containers will I need?
The gardeners here tell me to not put tenders outside until after May 15 (we have what is called the Saintes Glaces which means 3 days of unseasonably cold weather but I don't know if this is true or myth!). But what can I do with them until then???
any help?
what about somewhere outside that is near the wall of the house for shelter - you can put some fleece over them to help keep them warm?
