hi all after a long time just reading posts I've decided to join and have a question regarding peppers.last year i grew californian wonder and sweet banana peppers with good results.this year i have gone for the same 2 but also gourmet,giant Gallo,rubens and have just picked up a purple Marva's pepper from a local garden centre.i have been looking at a few websites tonight and a lot say that only very early varieties are worth growing in the UK.i am intrested to know what varieties and results have other people had ????? I'm in Manchester and peppers are growing in a greenhouse
I grew California Wonder last year and had a brilliant crop outdoors. I'm in Greater London. Growing them again this year.

Its my first year with peppers too. Im growing Calahonda and Luteus, thank you Tee Gee ;). They are doing really well at about 9" - 11" tall now and beginning to flower.

Hello and welcome Zoolander. Have to agree with what you've read i've tried C W and another i can't remember and had poor results(not a good taste and all skin no flesh) i did'nt bother last year grew a few more chillis instead.
Have to disagree with you there northerner, last year I grew CW and Sweet Rainbow in the g/house and got my best crop ever....kept going until November.
Going for CW and Corno Di Torro this year.
What has good as shop ones? Must be the great houghton air

I grew Lipstick and Sweet Chocolate in the greenhouse last year and they were brilliant. I am growing them again this year as well as Purple Beauty, Meek and Mild and Banana Sweet.
Zoolander, what were the Banana Sweet like?
1. All depends whether you want to stuff them or not?
2. And are your 'houses heated? I mean - 9-11" now? When sown where?
3. If you don't want to stuff, there are few chunkier than Topepo Rosso. Just solid goodness! The smaller ones here.

First heated propagator to germinate, then windowsill in foil light boxes in the kitchen. Moved to the cooler outhouse in light box. Now in cold greenhouse..........Im really chuffed to bits with them ;D
