I have planted autumn friuting raspberries (all gold) about a month ago, no new shoots yet , should I be worried ???
No the ground is still cold
It's odd - I planted 10 from RHS Wisley & 1 has shoots, the others have none. I gave one an experimental tug the other day & it broke off, although it's old wood. Will leave for a few weeks before I complain but I suspect a dud! Where were yours from & where are you?
Ollie
Im in Leamington Spa warwickshire, and it was an e bay special , but seller had 100% feedback, half of the one I bought went with my sister to Shropshire and hers are the same
my 2 year old established autumn golds have only just started coming up, so I would give yours a couple more weeks.
Glow
My summer ones are growing like crazy, but my autumn ones have no growth yet.
I bought mine in Wilkinson's and pound stretcher so have to wait and see.
I have Autumn Bliss (one year old), Joan J (planted March this year) and Allgold (last November).
They are all showing growth but the Allgold is a lot slower although that could be because it is in the most shade.
I have 8 from the dreaded T&M and two are shooting.
I planted them on 20th November.
I am not worried yet as temperatures, until todays flag-cracking 14.4, have been very low.
There have been 27 days in the last 3 months where the thermometer rose above 10 degrees, and today was the record.
Last year at this time there had been 56 days over 10, including 10 days over 15 and 1 over 20!

excellent record keeping - wish i was that disiplined
if you keep records like that how do you have time for gardening :)
can you tell us how many more frosts we will have
All Gold, Yellow autumn fruiting? I wonder if they're the same as mine which are called Fall Gold. I saw some in a garden center called All gold and thought it may have been a spelling mistake. Meant to ask the assistant but you've only just reminded me :-\
Either way, I put mine in about this time last year and very little happened until mid summer when a few new shoots emerged. But now, within the past few weeks they've gone wild! Shooting up all over the place. Gone are my nice two, neat, straight rows. I'm battling against them taking over my strawberry bed 3 feet away.
I took on a vacant plot next to mine and inherited two very dense, overgrown rows of summer fruiting raspberries. I thinned them out, dug out enough canes for another two rows (Just in case the roundup killed them) and they're nowhere near what the established ones look like. One or two green shoots just emerging but months behind the established ones to look at ones.
I should'nt worry too much about them this year. And if you do have any dud ones, which I did, you'll make up for it next spring.
Thanks for all your feed back I won't worry no and look forward to picking them I am told the birds leave them alone,, as they think there unripe ..... ;)

I think all and fall gold are the same.

I didn't get many because it was their first year. The few I did get tasted like, well, raspberries. In fact they tasted like any other raspberry I've ever had.
Got a problem with them at the moment but that's another thread...
