Don't let Rosebud see this thread. She can already open up her very own Kew Gardens of fuchsias as it is.

Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone has received either their fuschias or their catalogue yet? I tried e-mailing the company a couple of times, but they bounced back. I might phone them, but just wanted to see if anyone else had received the goodies?
nope not yet
Nothing for me yet :'(
I got the catalogue on Saturday. No fuschias yet though.
got the catalogue on saturday as well, no fuschias yet but the ones I ordered back in february haven't arrived yet, either ;D
same here, zip nada nil... no suprise, even if they get sent the post office eats them!!!
Haha ok well - looks like i shouldnt get concerned until mid June/July then :)) - what a way to run a business :D
nothing here but i have just used my 5 quid voucher to get a lucky dip of plants for the garden only cost 99pence and p&p
my fuschias that were ordered in february arrived today, bit on the small side I thought, still, plenty of time to grow and I only paid 2.95 for 6 ;D
no sorry told me its invalid even tried the catalogue never mind snooze you looz i surpose
Let me in on the secret!
I ordered a catalogue but unable to get the freebie :(
Where have I gone wrong?
To tell you the truth I need a catalogue from them like a hole in the head. I am already on their mailing list a couple of times so now it is three times
Mine arrived this morning. One each of Devonshire Dumpling, Royal Mosaic and Rocket Fire. All are a bit fancy for my taste but certainly very acceptable as a free gift. ;D

According to my research Devonshire Dumpling and Royal Mosaic are trailing types whereas Rocket Fire is a bush variety.

Hmmm...I looked it up in my book on Fuchsias and googled too. Perhaps a Fuchsia expert will be along in a moment.
G x
Why am I waiting?? :) Glad to hear 2 are trailing I can have a couple more hanging baskets (if I ever get them ) still waiting for the trailing million bells I ordered. I have received one order I placed with them so hopefully will receive the rest soon
Mine arrived this morning, larger plants than T&M's freebies ;D
They arrived yesterday *smiling from ear to ear* (me not the plants) - so I've potted them up and now they're languishing on my balcony.
I've never grown Fuschia's before but they look good and healthy so i'll see how i get on. I've been googling them so I can't go too far wrong hopefully.
still nothing although i filled someone elses details in for them at the same time and theres have been delivered - no fair!
I did get a nice package this morning i am a tester for the fabulous bakin boys and i got some new testers in the post today :)

Recieved mine yesterday very healthy plants. all potted & settled in. ;D
Thanks to Tinker... ;)
Mine arrived yesterday!
Mine came yesterday, potted and awaiting a growth spurt! Really healthy.
My Devonshire Dumpling is as dead as a dodo. Stem rotted through, all the leaves off slimy and rotting.
Mine came today and two are healthy, as above, Devonshire dumpling is rotted.
The other two look good and will be planted later.
Mine arrived today and look ok i am going to pot on into a temp area as the area i want to put them into is not ready yet.
Yippie ;D
(even saved the package so i can resue it if needs be ;)
right got my plants today [thank you tinker] [c]giant fuchsia devonshire dumpling giant fuchsia royal mosaic[a] giant fuchsia ///////// here's the problem no name paper ripped code number Z019 just in case anyone got the same code might be able to help thanks john
big J, the third one is Giant Fuschia Rocket Fire.
thank you ceres :)
Devonshire dumpling is trailing with pink/white flowers - Royal mosaic is trailing with pink/blue flowers mottled flowers. They are both half hardy, so some protection required in winter. Not sure about Rocket fire.
yep, got mine today, thanks, matey..all in fine nick and well watered ;D
YEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!! got mine today, very pleased although the balance of my order didn't arrive. Had to go out quite early, saw the postman round the corner and asked him to leave any plants/package he had for me on top of my post box. Bless him, he left a note to say he had left them out of sight down by my wheelie bin.
hi got ours today
took me a while to realise the abc letters are also stamped on the packaging under the labels behind the soil bits ;)
so not easy to see anyway but at least they are here ;D -- more stuff to put in the garden
teena

Mine are doing very well.
No flowers yet though.
Bridgehouse
Mine have been rubbish and one is now dearly departed :(
I still live in hope though!
Sounds like a bit of a mixed bag then. ::) Perhaps when they get to flowering stage those who have been lucky enough to receive decent plants could post pictures and offer cuttings? I'd be happy to do this.
G x
my devon dumpling died too, came a bit, urr, fluffy! the other 2 are stumpy wee things still, one has flower buds on the other jus leaves, we shall see! if i take cuttings i wont have any plants left im afraid :'( gimme a few yrs if they survive :) anybody get a decent devon dumpling? still for a freebie i wont b grumbling, spesh as i actually got them and dont normally!!!
2 of mine died and the third isnt gonna flower this year as its just too small.
NVM I lived in hope. :)
Well I'm pleased to say that mine are all surviving. They are in 5" pots and all in bud. Rocket Fire in the second picture is just starting to open. :)

I should have to say, with the benefit of personal hindsight, I am not a fan of J Parkers.
All decent plant companies guarantee their plants, so, if as in several cases here, you complain to the company, they will replace plants, or refund the cost. Not so, in the case of J Parker they will (instead of sending a credit to your credit card company, or a cheque) send you a credit note. Therefore if you want to get the money back for the poor plants you have bought, you have to give them another order in order to cash in your credit note.
Nasty, 'nice little earner'.
I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole.
valmarg
I emailed them to tell them one of the fuschias had arrived dead. I didn't expect a replacement or anything like that but an apologetic reply would have been nice.
Sorry ceres, but you should expect a replacement/refund. The company has happily accepted your money and not supplied you with viable plants.
I am not normally nangy, but if I have paid good money for something, and what I receive is substandard, then I either want a replacement of my money back. Most companies I deal with are happy to do this. J Parkers are not.

This was a free offer. I agree with Ceres that an apology would have been nice but a replacement unlikely. I wouldn't buy plants from J Parker either, but that discussion is probably for another thread.
I'd like to continue to hear how people are fairing with their free plants.
G x
That was why I didn't expect a replacement!
There seems to be a common theme that the Devon Dumplings were duff stock.
Yes. If the offer was to lure in new customers - and I can't see why else a commercial company would give things away - it's pretty dumb to give out duff plants. Either that or virtually everyone who took advantage of the offer here is clueless with Fuchsias. ;D

Hello
I did a order to jparker earlier on this year nearly £60 one word some's up the order s***e most of it dead or dying i rang up and complained they said they would replace the order so they did but again another shoddy delivery in the end i did get a small refund but lost near £30 over this not pleased.
I did report them to trading standards and did a report but i suppose i won't hear a thing.
Funny thing my 3 free fuchsias are doing fine one's budding up sorry i can't which as i didn't lable them.
Cheers

Glad to hear the latter part of your message. If the buds are dark red then it is Rocket Fire. If they are creamy white, elongated with deep pink stripes it's Royal Mosaic and if they are creamy white and quite rounded then it's Devonshire Dumpling.
Hope this helps. :)
G x
My Royal Mosaic is out but still waiting on Devon. Dumpling. How's everyone else doing?
G x
Despite the wind (and heavy showers) I managed to get a picture of Royal Mosaic and Devonshire Dumpling today. :) G x

Looking good Georgie, really like the Devonshire Dumpling
Thanks Lorna, me too, it's more subtle. Also I was beginning to think I was talking to myself in this thread. ;D

It said the code had expired. Shame, I love fuschias although I do prefer the sall ones as I've found the flowers drop off the very big ones. But I od like free things.
I think I can see where Royal Mosaic got its name. Took this today. G x
(http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/georgie_girl15/Fuchsias/FuchsiaRoyalMosaic120708.jpg)
Georgie I like that one almost as much as the ?dumpling one. Which one do you prefer now they have come in to full flower?
Hi Lorna. Devon Dumpling is still my fave because it's more subtle. I planted mine into a hanging basket today. :)
G x
On Monday I am going to have a good look in my hanging baskets/troughs, don't tell anyone but I have forgotten where I planted my 3 freebies and as my earlier labels were rubbish will have to look at your pics to see if mine survived :o Took a couple of pics of the swingtime you gave me, will post the pics next week.
Hi Folks,
Only 2 of mine survived.
Royal Mosaic
And I don't know this one.

I adore fuchsias. I have nineteen varieties around the garden & two more on order.
CC
I thought it was time we had an update on our freebies.
Royal Mosaic has been by far the most successful with three strong shoots and a fair amount of side shooting. It's virtually filled the hanging basket now and is flowering well.
Devonshire Dumpling was also doing well with a similar growth habit to Royal Mosaic but in the last week or so it's looking limp and has stopped flowering. I suspect vine weeval but I've not had a chance to check.
Rocket Fire is strong but only has one main stem flowering. For some reason the side shoots are simply not taking off.
How are yours doing?
G x
Georgie, my DEVONSHIRE DUMPLING, has also stopped flowering,
Royal Mosiac, is a joy the flowers are so big & blousey. the other one snuffed it ages ago.
