Title: What is the best size pot
Post by: kt. on April 18, 2008, 13:56:10
I have a just bought a dwarf stella cherry tree that grows to a maximum 7ft. & a dwarf pear tree.  They are advertised as suitable for a container.

1)  What size pot is best?
2)  Do I need depth or width or both?
3)  Can I use the same size pots for both fruit trees?

If they were mine I'd go for half barrels as the ulitmate size.  But things growing in containers are best potted on graudually into pots a couple of sizes larger.  So it depends what size pots they arrive in.

They arrived bare-rooted in a box.

Yup I'd go for half barrel too ... had a John Downey in a tub for years ... don't forget to water well till it gets established!
