Title: growlight help needed?

i need a growlight for my smaller greenhouse, looking on ebay these look quite expensive, just want the most basic type. any help, cheers.

Won't a fluorescent light do? if so get one that you'd normally fit under your kitchen wallunits

nope, wrong frequency & too dull... You need plenty of the red end for photosynthesis - sodium ones or some of the new fluorescent units specifically made for growing plants. The police have mine at the moment, following a slight misunderstanding...

yes, they are the types, but where my greenhouse is, its too dark, only got the full sun until four, so i need something to give the plants a boost, can you not buy anything from b&q that will do the job!

there is a 125 watt low energy bulb available, about £20 from electrical wholesalers, built in ballast, just needs a large eddison fitting. these are now being used on a commercial scale for flower production in lincolnshire.

ask for 'envirolite' bulbs
