Title: Hi All from a new one
Post by: Need a Leek on April 16, 2008, 21:07:50
Hi All, I am new to this site so please be patient with me as I get to grips with it, I also use the world sea fishing forum however that and this are not alike...My name is Tony and just over a year ago my good lady talked me into us getting an allotment and like my fishing I got hooked, we have now taken on a second allotment this year. I am not sure how we crowbar it all in as we both work full time have 4 dogs 2 cats a 12 year old boy the dreaded DIY and of course fishing" for me". Sooo I am looking to get some expert advice and banter from time to time from you all if you don't mind and at some point if I can ??? pass on some advice :-\.....This looks like a good place to be folks :).

Cheers
Tony

Hi Tony, welcome, you sound just the same as the rest of us. I can see you will fit right in.

3 dogs and 4 cats here, 2 lotties and I still work full time..OH retired but working like mad at home and lotties.

I shall look forward to your advice too.

Long time since I went sea fishing unless crabbing and clamming count these days.

With the weather being so unpredicatable lately you will be safer on the allotment than fishing off the Nab. I shall be out there in a couple of weeks.

Hiya Need a Leek!  What a name eh!

Yes you do sound as though you have your work sorted!!

I only have two dogs, two lotties and one full time and two part time jobs!

I live by the coast and people who fish in the sea are not my favourite people in the world!!! No offence meant individually but I have had two of my dogs - my old lurcher Mia and my current labrador  who both ate smelly fish lying on the beach and both containing fishing hooks.

Both needed a trip to the vets to extricate said fishing hooks and line £70 ish each time!

I do understand how the hooks get snagged on rocks and fish break the line  - but they are nasty things  and it is a shame that they can't be made to either disintegrate after a while or something - the wildlife that pick them up can't go to the vets!

Rant over - I will talk to you as a fellow lottie plotter!!  Do you ever get to bump into your wife or child or do they go with you?

Nice to meet you anyway and hopefully you will be handing out advice in the next year or so - if not much sooner!

Hi Tony and welcome from me too.

Don't forget....If you need a leek  ::), don't waste it in the hedgerow, put it on your compost heap, it helps with the rotting down process.  ;D

Enjoy your lotties

Hiya

My son was born in Shoreham!!  I used to live in Worthing.

Never had a problem in Sussex it is up here where you see them lined along the road overnight (the tide reaches the road) and rushing out during the day to catch the high tide!

The one (fisherman) that caught my old lurcher was on the beach at Blue Anchor with his line and all at the time and he joked that he had never caught a dog before!  He even got a bit miffed that he had to cut the line as the hook was in my dogs' mouth!
