Title: Let's talk about flea beetles
Post by: GrannieAnnie on April 14, 2008, 20:35:58
Last time I tried growing potatoes and eggplants the flea beetles got them.
Have you found a good deterrent besides fleecing the whole growing season?

Never had them on potatoes and not grown aubergines yet so no experience there.  Last season though my radishes were badly affected.  Derris Dust worked fine.

Put glue on a piece of card or wrap sellotape around it and run it over the top of the leaves, flea beetle jumps up and gets stuck.  I've not had it on spuds or aubergine but have had it on radish leaves.  TBH I don't bother too much about them because the radish are eaten as soon as they are ready.

Just cover with fleece until they are well grown?

Never seen them on Potatoes or Aubergines.

Derris = rotenone here and I think I heard it was outlawed ???  but on googling it that may have referred to using it on fish. Guess the store will know.
