Title: SEMI-hotbed/ bubble wrapped coldframe tomato plants
Post by: GrannieAnnie on April 14, 2008, 19:42:04
We had ice on the birdbath last night but my tomato plants with buds look fine despite being in the
coldframe which is a semi-hotbed since it rests on some fresh horse manure underneath it. It was
covered with some rug padding and plastic overnight which undoubtedly helped.

Have to say, very pleased with my little slipshod equipment and thinking of doing a larger one next winter.

Thats great! Hopefully spring isn't too far away now, though here in the UK it does seem to be dragging its heels. We do have some lovely days but the night temps can drop quite low. The wind today was very cold, specially when the sun went behind a cloud.

Good luck for a nice early crop :D

Half the tomato plants are still in the house, just in case...
