Post by: sunflower on July 21, 2004, 15:10:21
there i was all excited  ;D just dug up my very first home grown produce, new potatos, took em home steamed them couldn`t wait to get stuck in but too my disapointment  :( they had a very sharp metalic after taste  ???. apart from that they were very light & fluffy & would have been gorjus. Is there something wrong with my soil?. Very new plot so not had chance to put alot in soil to improve it.

What variety are they?
Years ago, I had a plot in Leeds and grew some spuds that were resistant to wire-worm. When I cooked them with the skins on they were very bitter, but peeled they were much better. I guess it was the bitterness that put off the worms!
