Can anyone tell me which type of corn this is?
I have just googled and all I can find is that it matures later and it is a "good
follow on"
It's supposed to be 'extra tender sweet' whatever that means. what I need to know is whether it needs to be kept at a distance from a super-sweet.
Hi, extra tender and sweet is the most recent development in corn. It is supposed to fill the gap between the sugar enhanced and the supersweets.
Therefore it should be sweeter than the sugar enhanced but without the problems that the supersweets bring which need extra heat at planting time, however bear in mind they are also the longest to stay good after picking.
Kite and others in the extra tender and sweet family will NOT cross with other corn like the supersweets do, but bear in mind supersweets will cross with anything so if you have any supersweets they will cross with your Kite
Kite is one that has a good sweet flavour with long cobs, however the down side is that it is a late variety, not the first choice for the UK unless we have a good summer or you are in a very warm area.

Robert to answer your question. Kite wull not cross with most things but if you are growing a supersweet it will as they all do if there is a supersweet around.
Thanks. I'll keep the two at opposite ends of the plot; I'm trying it in the hope of getting an extra crop before the summer ends. With the effects of global warming, it seems worht the attempt.
