looks painful on one of my poor hens, how do i help her to ease it out without it breaking or hurting her, on a positive note, they must be coming back to form!!
You could try some kind of lubricant, vaseline or such like. I would be very careful not to break the egg though as this could be quite problematic. If the lubricant method does not help then I suggest a visit to the vet.

put the hen in a warm place on her own, the cold can be one reason for the hen becoming egg bound, If this fails put her in bowl of hot water ( about as hot as you would have if for a bath) if the hen is egg bound she will squat in the water like she would to lay if she is just poorly she will stand or try to get out . if this works put her in a quiet warm place on her own until she is eating and drinking well again it is important she passes it asap or you will loose the hen.
How is your hen? Hope the egg came away ok.
yes a nice brown egg today and yesterday, so things are looking up now!!
That is excellent news.
Eggcellent!!
My grand dad used to keep chickens and when anything went wrong he would neck them and pluck them and grandma would gut them and cook them.
delicious
That's the way to do it.
If you hold an egg in your palm and then try to squeeze your hand into a fist, you will not crush the egg.
the water should only be warm, not hot and not as hot as you would have for a bath. You should never try to get the egg out by poking about unless you know what you're doing! If the warmth doesn't help then it's a trip to the vets.
If you mess about trying to get the egg out, you could kill the hen.
