for Cancer research?
im doing it, so if its a charity that is close to anyones heart and want to sponsor me even if its for 20p, feel free as it all goes to a good cause.
I'm doing it to Gunnerbee. Haven't run for about 20 years! Just started my training last week. You running or walking it?
running it, hopefully, its a gap to fill with the non-smoking thing!! i used to run and was good at it, until smoking started affecting my breathing then i didnt run anymore! but ive been gien up now for two months last yesterday and god i feel soooo much better!!!
Yay go Gunnerbee!!! It'll be a month for me next week. I've never really run and when I did I was rubbish at it, the whole breathing thing is what does for me, can never get that quite right and end up gasping for breath within a few minutes lol - any tips?? I was always good at sprint and hurdles.
slowly build up would be the best advice, sounds like you are running too quick, if you slow right down, you dont get outta breath as much!! i sprinted today, couldnt believe it!! i was quick at school, but need to work on it a bit nowadays! and my ankle plays up terrible, i had a real bad horseriding accident a few years ago, so its slighly stiff and arthritic, that was playing up tonight >:(
Gunnerbee and Posie please see your PM box.
Thank-you Lorna xx
Thanks very much Lorna, its very much appreciated. x
My knees are naffed thanks to horse-riding, as is my back (crumbling discs), but I'm still addicted to it! I will get back into it one day - when my GP's not looking ;D
As for running fast ;D ;D ;D ;D I wish! lol I've got an 8 week programme from the internet "From couch potato to 5 k" which is a jog/walk programme so hopefully that'll do it.
Quote"From couch potato to 5 k"
is that a real website? thats chuckled me no end on this achey morning!! ;D ;D ;D ;D!!!!
Lol - website is cool running, the plan is Couch to 5k not couch potato (my mistake) but same difference where I'm concerned! lol
Me too! Haven't run since I was at school, eighteen years now (god, I'm old). Run for the bus once or twice this year, couldn't even do that when I was smoking. Really want to run round the whole course.
I'm going looking for that couch potato training scheme... :)

There you go. If you scroll down and highlight the weeks, then you can copy and paste into word or similar. If you try to download the thing it tries to charge you. :)
Did 25 mins tonight of 90 secs running, 1 min walking. Thought I was barely going walking pace, but checked my phone (has magic pedometer in it) and I was running at 12km an hour! If I can get up to the 30 mins running I'll manage the course! Which is all I really want to do, don't give a monkey's how fast.
Found a BUPA training thing for eight weeks, which I might try as my run's on 1 June.
Mine's on 1 June as well Bupster. How's everyone getting on with sponsorship and training?
Couple of other people at work are doing their runs before me so might not really be able to ask there. I'm halfway to the £100 though so I don't think it'll be too difficult.
I'm up to 26 mins, 2 mins walking and 2 running. I know it sounds pathetic, but baby steps and all that...

ROFL ;D - pathetic ??? I'm only just up to 1 minute running and 2ish minutes walking! lol - but I am also going to the gym every day for half an hour, so not totally slacking! I'm just up to £25 I think, still nagging everyone I can think of lol :)
Did first 'measured mile' today - a staggeringly fast 14 mins 12 secs. Move over Roger Bannister... :D
Yay go Bupster! I've not run for over a week because my knee keeps swelling, but been going to gym instead to do resistance work and a few minutes on cross trainer to get my stamina up. :D
Keep going ladies ;D
Went to gym tonight, planning to get up before commute tomorrow to go for a run. Planned time of awakening: 5:45am :o. Shall I let you know how that goes?
Well done to anyone who did their Race For Life run/walk today!!! Did mine in Cardiff today, ended up walking it unfortunately, but did 5k in 55 minutes so I think that's respectable! Many thanks to anyone who sponsored me, your money will make a difference. :)
